In 2019, Mesopartner will support the GIZ in Eastern Sudan to promote skills development that strengthens the employment and economic opportunities of refugees and host communities in the Eastern Sudanese states of Gedaref and Kassala. We will apply Mesopartner's complexity-sensitive approach based on the context-specific needs and start with small safe-to-fail and experimental initiatives of local economic and market systems development. To develop these initiatives – and also to establish the capability to come up with change initiatives in the future after GIZ’s support has ended, we attempt to build up local change coalitions and build their capacity to make sense of their context and act accordingly and collaboratively. The outcomes will hopefully provide us as well as our colleagues in Sudan with useful insights and learning.
