Mesopartner has been part of the development of a winning bid for a programme to support economic growth and the creation of jobs for rural youth in Moldova. The programme is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and will start in November. Mesopartner is one of three organisations partnering in delivering the programme, together with the Swiss NGO HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova.

Migration out of the country, particularly by educated youth, is a major problem for the economy in Moldova. Therefore, while the programme aims to boost private-sector led growth and job creation in a number of selected sectors in Moldova, part of it will also be to better understand and shape the social dynamics around migration. For this purpose, the programme will for example work together with youth organisations in the country.

The proposed programme design combines Market Systems Development and Local Economic Development approaches in an innovative way, driving growth in potential sectors through a process of bottom-up participation and strong regions. Mesopartner will bring its expertise in managing and supporting development processes on both local and national levels.
