First LED workshop in Iran
By: Mona Kananian
In December 2010 the first LED workshop has been deducted by Mona Kananian* in Rafsanjan, Kerman province, in the Islamic republic of Iran.
This event was part of a cluster development action plan which had been developed by Mr. Anjom shoa for the pistachio industrial cluster in Kerman, Iran. A joint vision and strategy was defined last year by stakeholders of the pistachio industrial cluster, followed by the approval of an action plan to foster and develop the pistachio industry in their territory.
Following the Cluster development process, the suggestion was that mayor stakeholders need to be more familiar with systemic concepts, with system dynamics and should be in a position to discuss challenges and find solutions, based on their experiences. The participatory environment of the workshop was essential in achieving these goals.
Participants came from governmental institutions, BDS providers, suppliers and local cooperatives. All of them were involved in a participatory workshop for the first time, sharing their exciting experiences and reaching for a better understanding of territorial potentials and the role they can play in local economic development.
* Mona Kananian is Socio Economic Development Consultant, based in Iran
