LED in post recovery disaster areas

La Gonave Island

Economic Recovery introduces an economic dimension in the emergency response to disasters. Ulrich Harmes-Liedtke of mesopartner interviews professionals of the NGO World Vision: Elvire Douglas, Humanitarian Emergency Officer in Haiti and Tregenna Myrabo, Economic Recovery Coordinator at the International Center in Monrovia, USA. The interview highlights why it is needed to include an economic perspective from the beginning in the response process to natural and man-made disasters.

    Dear mesopartners,

thanks for keeping me posted on the LEDCasts - I enjoy them very much.

This one was of particular interest to me as we have been working on the topic for quite some time.

Very recently we have published a Guidebook on the topic with a chapter on LED - deriving mostly from experiences made cooperating with mesopartner in Sri Lanka and Nepal (http://www2.gtz.de/dokumente/bib/gtz2009-0266en-conflict-affected-environment.pdf)

There is also a working group in the DCED http://www.enterprise-development.org/page/psd-in-conflict-affected-environments concerned with the topic.

    Cheers

    Daniel
