Personal background:

PhD in political science, University of Hamburg.

2003 co-founder of mesopartner.

1998 – 2001 project manager at Institute for Development and Peace, University of Duisburg, conducting an overall assessment of structural policy (local and regional economic development, active labour market policy, urban renewal) in the state of North Rhine Westphalia.

1988 – 1998 fellow at German Development Institute, German’s leading development policy think tank, in charge of conceptual and policy-oriented research on technology, innovation and competitiveness.

1998 – 2000 German commissioner in the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development.

Co-author of the concept of Systemic Competitiveness. Author of the PACA methodology and other concepts and methods for territorial development (Hexagon of LED; Rapid Appraisal of Local Innovation Systems / RALIS, Compass of Local Economic Development). Experienced consultant, facilitator and trainer on territorial development, competitiveness, innovation and related issues. Author of numerous monographs and publications in academic journals. Jörg co-hosted of the Local Economic Development Podcast.
